Caraway
Caraway, scientifically known as *Carum carvi*, is a flavorful and aromatic spice used in culinary and medicinal traditions worldwide. Although not native to Sri Lanka, it is commonly used in local spice blends and herbal remedies due to its warm, slightly peppery taste and digestive properties.
The small crescent-shaped seeds are rich in essential oils like carvone and limonene, which contribute to their distinctive aroma. Caraway is widely used in baking, curries, liqueurs, and pickling.
