Located just around the outskirts of Colombo, the Thalangama Wetlands provides visitors a beautiful natural escape away from the hustle and bustle of the city. Within a short time, you will be surrounded by nature which consists of green paddy fields, a large man-made reservoir which is used for the surrounding irrigation, canals, marshes and ponds making it ideal for a diverse species of birds to nest and breed in. Home to about 100 wetland bird species and common garden birds, including kingfishers and Egrets, bird watching enthusiasts can spend hours lost in this natural habitat.
