This is a replica of the Samadhi Buddha statue that was originally founded in Madirigiriya, which is located in the Polonnaruwa district of Sri Lanka, in the 7th century A.C. It is stated that the Buddha gained his enlightenment while meditating in the position referred to as the Dhyana Mudra, which is shown in this sculpture.
