Shameless

In a chance encounter on the streets of Calcutta, Taslima meets Suranjan, the fictional protagonist from her novel Lajja, who has now become flesh and blood. Like the author herself, Suranjan and his Hindu family have fled religious persecution in Bangladesh, seeking refuge across the border. Yet their hopes for safety and acceptance in a Hindu-majority India prove complicated, as they grapple with displacement, identity, and belonging in an unwelcoming land.
